Welcome to
Kgaswe School
An independent day school for boys and girls from Pre-School to High School.

Kgaswe School was founded in 1986 with 5 students in a garage in the BPC Village in Palapye. It served the need of expatriate employees' children who had no English Medium school to attend. It registered with the Ministry of Education and soon outgrew the garage and moved to its present location adjacent to the Moropule Power Station. The present administration block was all the school initially consisted of. _

The school grew steadily from then on, running under the administration of the Botswana Power Corporation. In 1995 the school was formed into a non-profit company controlled by a Board of Governors. This was done with the view to the school eventually becoming totally independent. This happened in 2006. Today, the school caters for the needs of pupils in the Palapye, Serowe and Mahalapye districts looking for a top class English Medium education for their children. A high school opened in January 2006 and offers the Cambridge International Examinations.

Kgaswe now has an enrolment of close to 400 pupils and boasts excellent academic and sporting facilities and a dedicated staff of fully qualified, experienced teachers, proficient in the English language.

The school is a member of the Conference of Heads of Private Schools of Botswana (CHOPS) and the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA).

We aim to provide a sound education and a balanced curriculum within a purposeful environment. Each student is encouraged to develop self-confidence and to assume responsibility for themselves and others. Throughout their years at Kgaswe we expect all students will benefit from their experiences and acquire the necessary skills for successful transfer to tertiary education and on into adult life.

We at Kgaswe believe in:
  • a commitment to the school's ethos of excellence and quality
  • honesty, integrity and polite conduct
  • tolerance and empathy
  • trust and respect
  • encouraging leadership and team spirit
  • providing pupils with the skills to be international citizens
  • education as a partnership between the school and home
  • parents supporting the school in all educational and discipline measures.
These collective principles guide the thoughts and actions of the staff and pupils at Kgaswe School.
Kgaswe School, together with the parents, strives to equip the individual child with the necessary skills and values to become a confident, compassionate international citizen, who is an effective thinker and life-long learner, able to contribute meaningfully to society.
